Last fall we embarked on a strategic planning exercise, part of which was to gather ideas for Research for Impact. In particular, we invited expansive ideas to inform future options and decisions for investing in a few.
This summer’s unveiling of Inspiring the Future Makers identified a key initiative centered around three broad interdisciplinary research themes in which Lehigh will look to invest over the course of the next several years.
Today, as part of the university’s focus in research growth, we invite statements of interest to prepare proposals for new research centers around these three main themes:
-
Assessing and improving health by working outside of health care settings
-
Interdisciplinary research and creative work to understand conflict and change
-
Innovation for sustainable and resilient infrastructure and communities
Schedule
-
Letter of intent (not required but encouraged) requested by August 31, 2023 at 5:00 PM
-
White paper due by October 30, 2023 at 5:00 PM
Proposals will be initially reviewed by an internal group including the Provost, VPR, VP for Strategic Planning and Initiatives and the President. Proposals will be selected for further review and development based on the potential for these centers to result in signature high impact research activity by Lehigh faculty and students. If a team’s proposal is selected for further review we will initiate an iterative process to refine and improve the proposal.
Information Session
Please join us for one of two Q&A sessions with Nathan Urban where we will entertain questions about the process.
